Carlin de Paolo’s philosophy: Our vineyards are our garden. Certified bio-eco farming, using animals for manure, solar panels, and everything reflecting nature’s own ecosystem.

The vineyards are owned 100% by the family and run by 4 brothers, the youngest 22 years and the oldest being 42 years. Split with generational ideas and traditions, the younger generation wanted a more modern bottle label, while the older generation wanted tradition and history so the compromise was the new coloured label on the left and the more traditional label being offset on the right. Their mascot is the iconic Walking Man featured at the top of the label.

Piedmont has its own Employment Equality Certification checks and balances in place. All employees are paid the same and their workday hours are the same. The welfare of the companies are audited for equality, fair trade, abuse, etc. Their neighbours are also included in the interview process.

Average age of the vines: 40 years

Wine Making: in steel tanks at controlled temperature then aged 12 months in 25/50 oak barrels. At least 6 months in the bottle before release.

Colour: intense ruby red with garnet reflexes.

Aroma: Sensations of dried fruit and red fruit jam with soft balsamic notes

Palate: rich, soft and velvety with forest fruits.

Alcohol: 13.5%

Food matching: salami, pasta, meat and all vegetables.

Sugars 2.5g/l

Climate: Mediterranean, characterized by harsh winters with temperatures reaching -15°C, and hot and humid summers with temperatures reaching 35° C

Soil: limy, clayey, sandy and calcareous

Altitude: 180-340 meters above sea level
